University of Chester

The University of Chester opened in 1839, making it one of the oldest higher education institutions in the country. It has five sites across Chester, and the nearby areas:

  • Parkgate Road Campus
  • Kingsway Campus
  • Riverside Campus
  • Queens Park Campus
  • Thornton Science Park.

There is also an additional site in Warrington, as well asthe recently established University Centre Shrewsbury with Shropshire Council.

Over the last ten years, the University has spent over £130 million on the Chester campuses and Warrington Campus. Chester has eight faculties:

  • Education and Children’s Services
  • Health and Social Care
  • Humanities
  • Medicine, Dentistry and Clinical Sciences
  • Science and Engineering
